Episode 6: Upcoming events and a class!

Rae

How about a stimulating exploration of the intersection of neurodivergence, kink, and community?  Well, that would be the ideal, but this week is just a short little episode.

Today’s Quote: “I don't think anything replaces the face-to-face meetings and the personal connections that you get when you're in the same room or same place with people.”

Speaker 1:

Hello NeuroKinksters and welcome to the Diverse Dungeon, episode number 6. This podcast deals with mature themes and ideas. Please don't listen if you do not wish to hear about BDSM, sex or neurodivergence. Thank you. Quote.

Speaker 1:

I don't think anything replaces the face-to-face meetings and the personal connections that you get when you're in the same room or same place with people, enemy Paul. So today's question when do I get my pictures? Well, I have the brain with the crop and the whip over it, and that was put together by an artist friend of mine by the name of Rachel Davies, and I will see if I can put her Instagram on my notes for you. She did it as a custom piece for me. I told her what I wanted and she did it and it was awesome. The rest of the art I get from an online AI called Imagine. It's an app, so all the pictures are just what I think of, and then I play around with it till I get a result. I like I would much prefer to give people like Rachel money to do my art, but I have to admit that having an AI that I can just call to and get instant results from is pretty handy, but I would like to do more paid art as soon as I have more money. So that is where I get my pictures. Of course, links will be in the description, so I don't know if I have much of an episode in me today.

Speaker 1:

I have been back to work full time and I have been busy and I have been dealing with some health issues and just all sorts of things and, as many of you neurodiverse folks know, the moment you get hit by one thing, it just sort of rolls into a bunch of others. So that's why I haven't been terribly active recently and I really do need to get my butt back in gear because I have some things upcoming. So I thought, well, that's what I'm going to talk about. So the first thing I have going on is there's a local convention Actually it's a kink convention that's going to be held here in my area and it's also held across the country and three other places. And for the second time I will be hosting a neurokinkster meet and greet, and so it is a chance for neurodivergent kinksters to get together and talk to each other before the convention gets into full swing, so Saturday morning I figured that way people can get up and go. So the last time I just sort of hosted it and I had some like a handout about some definitions and that was okay. Given the feedback I received and just some of my own thoughts, I think this time I'm going to do well snacks, because it's Saturday morning, and I'm also going to put together a neurodiverse negotiation like form or plan for people that they can take with them. So I'm going to be working on that this week and any contributions you have, please let me know. You can send them to me at neurokinkster at gmailcom or leave me a message on Instagram. I would love to get your input. So the meet and greet the idea is to let people meet others that they can go to classes with, maybe set up scenes and just become more comfortable. That's how this whole podcast got.

Speaker 1:

Started is about six months ago. I hosted a meet and greet for the same convention same organizers, I should say, on the East Coast, and I got a lot of really positive feedback. I was not local to that convention, I just knew a few people. I had about 40 people show up. I had to close the doors because we got overcrowded and I learned some fabulous people. People really liked it. They talked about neurodiversity and how difficult it was for them to be a part of the Kink community and also how welcoming the Kink community could be. They talked about how much they liked the structure and how much they appreciated the rules. They knew where they were supposed to go. So I got a lot out of that and I didn't really know what to do with it. So I just sort of sat on it for about six months until I went to the sex geek camp and that's when I got the idea to do this podcast and the first few episodes were just easy and I had people lined up and I was going to do interviews and then I went back to work full time and then I had health problems and so this has all been challenging. I don't want to give up the podcast. I just feel like I'm not doing a very good job. But again, I have social anxiety. Of course I don't think I'm doing a good job, so I'm just going to keep on braving through and I'm going to keep doing it and I'm just going to tell myself that this is something that's needed and hopefully this meet and greet will give me some additional motivation. I figure, if nothing else, it will tell me whether or not, it's as popular where I'm from as it was on the East Coast. So that's.

Speaker 1:

The next thing happening is in a couple of weeks I'll be at a King convention. If you want to know more about it, you can again contact me at neurokingster at gmailcom. I'm rather not say it here online, just because there's no reason to make it that obvious for people. I'm not imagining I'll get stalkered, but who knows? So I'll be there. I'm also just attending and going to have some fun, so looking forward to that. This will be my third King convention after having come out as neurodivergent and becoming really public about it. I'll have a t-shirt that I got from, from Sveja. I will put a link in there. I have stickers, all that will say embrace neurodiversity, and I also got some ribbons printed up with neuro kinkster on them and, of course, we'll have business cards. So I am going to be pushing the podcast and pushing myself.

Speaker 1:

So that's what's coming up next week and then the week after that I am teaching an online Zoom class called Brain Soup. I am teaching it through the boundless organization. There are wonderful group. I've already linked to them before, but I will give a specific link to the class. I can't give you a discount on the tickets, I'm afraid to say, because it's not my gig, but I will be talking about how we use neurochemicals in our BDSN play, how we can enhance them and how we can make things better. So you'll get a chance to actually hear me talking about something other than my usual neurodiversity and actually looking at more of the science of what I do, which is where my background is.

Speaker 1:

Educational psychology is the name of my game and this is what I love doing, so I'm really excited to get to share this class. I've taught it once before. I taught it about a year ago. This will be my first time doing this class online, although I have done others, and I'm putting together a syllabus from LaSyllabus, a description and a slideshow for that now, and I'll have more to talk about with that next week, as well as probably freaking out about how I'm going to put together outfits and whatnot for the King Convention. So those are the two things coming up.

Speaker 1:

I have my meet and greet, which is going to be in person, my online Zoom class called Brain Soup, and then I'm going to the convention and I'm trying really hard for this convention to go and be my authentic, lovely self and not pack three suitcases worth of stuff. And it's not that I need three suitcases worth of stuff, but what if I do? Do you all run into that? I know I do. I need to have four different costumes and three different corsets and heels and shoes and toys, and I really can't afford to bring that much this year. Not because I can't afford the space I'm going to drive there, but everything I carry. I have to get up to the stairs by myself and remember how I mentioned those injuries and, honestly, how much topping am I going to be able to do that weekend? I don't know how much. So yeah, on the other hand, I just got two new Flaugers, one called the Timé and the other was specially made by my friend Aaron at Barbarian Designs, and he made it for me with Extra Falls. It's an upcycled Flaugger made with Bicycle Tubes, and he made it specifically to my request, where it's a little heavier on the handle, a little more falls. And then the Timé is one of his specialties he makes those with road bike tires. It's huge, it looks like an octopus.

Speaker 1:

I owe you all a picture, but that won't be until next week, I'm afraid, because I can't take pictures right now. I have no place to stage because, oh my god, my room is such a mess. So I'm going to be honest with you all. I'm sure you can understand this. My life has become unmanageable and I cannot figure out where anything is or where anything goes. I have hit ADHD hell in that I have packs of piles and stuff everywhere. So that's what's going on.

Speaker 1:

Not really lots to talk about with regards to kink and neurodiversity, except other than yours truly is neurodiverse and kinky and not getting anything done. So that's this week. I guess I should talk about something else, but I really can't think of anything. Yeah, I'm kind of out of stuff today, so throw me some questions, send me some emails, give me something, folks, because I have no idea what to say. But I did post something today and I will try and post next week and the week after. That was a report from the convention. So that's where everything is.

Speaker 1:

I hope you all have a great week. And oh, I will also post the link from where your anxiety is lying to you comes from, because that is not mine. It comes from a place a game called where not strangers. Absolutely fabulous game. Cannot recommend it enough, and thank you for that, because I'll make sure to bring the we're not strangers game with me to the meet and greet. So thank you for that. Okay, the musical intro is not so fast. Quarantine beats number one by patch worker, formerly known as friend zone, and the musical outro is the crossover by pyrosion. Have a great week.
